This week, we officially made it to California! We have several stops planned throughout the state, but we had barely crossed the Arizona-California border when something unexpected happened.

Remember last week when we decided to skip our planned overnight stop in Arizona and drive straight into California?

Good thing we did.

As William climbed onto the roof to set up our Starlink, he made a discovery that immediately stopped us in our tracks. The front section of our RV roof membrane had ripped back, exposing the bare wood underneath.

Not exactly the welcome to California we had imagined.

To make matters worse, it was Saturday, meaning nearly every RV repair shop was closed. The first thing William did was check the weather forecast, and thankfully there wasn't any rain expected. That gave us a little breathing room while we figured out our next move.

Sunday morning, we headed into town on a mission to find a temporary solution. After visiting a few stores, we found some heavy-duty waterproof repair tape that we hoped would keep everything sealed until we could make a permanent repair.

Of course, no trip into town is complete without trying a local restaurant. We stopped at Bubba's 33, and it did not disappoint. The food was absolutely delicious and gave us a chance to relax before tackling the repair.

That evening, once the sun had gone down and the roof had cooled off, it was time to get to work.

William removed the air conditioner so we could access the damaged area. Fortunately, we were able to overlap the torn membrane and secure everything with the waterproof tape. For now, it appears to be holding perfectly.

After hours of research, William tracked down the exact roofing material we needed and placed an order so we can make the permanent repair as soon as it arrives.

The rest of the week was thankfully much quieter.

Tuesday evening, after work, Krysta decided it was finally time to give the RV the bath it had been begging for. After weeks on the road, dust, dirt, and desert winds had definitely taken their toll, and the trailer looked brand new once it was finished.

Wednesday and Thursday were filled with work, work... and more work.

Friday, Krysta had the day off, and after seeing how good the trailer looked, she decided the truck deserved some attention too. Once it was sparkling clean, the rest of the day was spent catching up on laundry and getting everything ready for another travel day.

As we headed toward our next destination, we were treated to one of the most beautiful drives we've had so far. Winding through the mountains, we climbed to nearly 4,300 feet in elevation, and the views were absolutely incredible.

Our next stop is one we've been looking forward to for a long time—especially Krysta.
