Krysta officially started her new remote job this week and is officially one week in — and loving it so far! It feels amazing knowing this new chapter is what’s making our dream of traveling the country possible.
Our week in Wildwood was packed with good food, projects around the trailer, and one HUGE surprise addition to the family.
On our first day in Wildwood, we ate at Darryl's Diner, and if you’re ever in the area, we highly recommend it. Absolutely delicious.
We also got a lot accomplished around the trailer this week. The official “Road to ABGT 700” sticker finally made its way onto the camper, which made everything start to feel very real. William built Krysta’s desk and added new shelving in a few cabinets, which helped a ton with storage and organization. Tiny-home living means every inch matters.
Friday night we went out for dinner at Amerikano's Grille. Amazing Greek food, great atmosphere, and super dog friendly. One of the reasons we decided to go out to dinner was because it was our last night as a family of four.
Yep… you read that correctly.
On Saturday, we picked up the newest addition to our family — a miniature dachshund named Marble. 🖤
When we started planning this trip, we realized we’d be passing close to where Ivy and Fern’s breeder lives, so we reached out to see if she wanted to see the girls. Of course she said yes… but then we made the mistake of asking if she had any puppies available.
The answer was yes.
The second we saw little Marble, we were completely sold. What made it feel even more meant to be was the name. Back when we were naming Ivy and Fern, William actually wanted to name Fern “Marble,” but everyone said it sounded too much like a boy’s name, so we went with Fern instead. Now here was this little puppy already named Marble, and we instantly knew he was meant to be ours.
Saturday night we stopped at a Love's Travel Stop so the breeder could meet us there. We paid for a night stay so we could have AC, relax for a bit, and spend some time talking and catching up before continuing our trip.
After that, we headed to Chattahoochee and stayed one night at Flat Creek Family Campground. We arrived after dark and left early the next morning, but it was such a cute campground. The pull-through sites were easy to get into, and the hookups were clean and conveniently close to the trailer.
Today officially marked another big milestone on our journey — we finally left Florida.
We headed to Alabama Coast Campground in Foley for our week stay. The drive into Alabama was smooth with very little traffic. About an hour into the drive, we stopped at a rest area that had a cute little “stretch your legs” walking trail. We took Ivy, Fern, and Marble on a walk and ended up meeting some really nice people along the way.
The rest of the drive was pretty uneventful, which honestly is exactly what you hope for on travel days. Along the way, we learned a couple fun facts about Alabama too:
• Alabama was the birthplace of the nation’s 911 emergency system
• Alabama was the first place in the U.S. to celebrate Mardi Gras
Just a couple fun facts for you all. 😊
Now as we settle in after another travel weekend, we can’t help but wonder what adventures this week — and next week’s travel day — will bring.
The Road to Above & Beyond Group Therapy 700 continues. 🫶
