We ended last week at Red Shoes RV Park & Chalets in Kinder, Louisiana. This campground is huge, with nice clean facilities and big open RV sites. What makes it especially unique is that it's connected to Coushatta Casino Resort.

Of course, we had to check out the casino while we were there. We walked in dreaming of hitting it big and walked out... well, let's just say the photos below tell a different story! While we didn't exactly strike it rich, it was a nice casino with all the classic games you'd expect. Most of the casino allows smoking, but surprisingly it wasn't overly smoky inside.

One thing about this campground's location, though—it is definitely in the middle of nowhere.

Monday morning brought an unexpected and unwanted addition to our family.

William found a half-eaten pack of ramen noodles in the pantry, and we immediately knew what that meant: we had a mouse.

We had actually hoped we left our furry stowaway behind in Alabama, so we cleaned up the mess and went about our day. Unfortunately, the next morning we discovered a hole chewed into the dog food bag. At that point there was no denying it—we definitely had a mouse.

Since we were in the middle of nowhere, the closest store we could find was a Dollar General Market. Yes, you read that correctly. A Dollar General... with groceries.

We stocked up on mouse traps and headed back to the trailer ready for battle.

No sooner had we set the first trap than we heard it snap. Excited, we rushed over only to discover the mouse had somehow stolen the bait and escaped unharmed. The rest of the week turned into a full-blown mouse-hunting operation as we tested different traps and strategies to catch our unwanted guest.

As of this writing, the hunt continues.

As if being in the middle of nowhere wasn't memorable enough, Mother Nature decided to make sure we wouldn't forget our stay. Right in the middle of the week, we were hit with three straight days of rain. And not just a little rain—we're talking about the kind of rain that seems like it will never stop. Before long, parts of the campground started flooding, and everywhere we looked there was standing water. Thankfully, our site stayed high and dry, and we never had any issues with the trailer itself. It was actually pretty fascinating to watch how quickly the campground transformed after days of nonstop rain. While it definitely put a pause on some of our outdoor plans, it gave us a chance to slow down, relax inside the Solitude, and enjoy a few cozy rainy days. Life on the road isn't always sunshine and perfect travel days, but sometimes those unexpected moments become some of the most memorable parts of the adventure.

Before we knew it, Saturday had rolled around again and it was time to pack up and hit the road.

This week's destination? TEXAS!

Packing up the trailer is getting smoother and faster every travel day, but the drive itself was another story. The second we crossed the Texas state line, we were greeted by construction. And more construction. And even more construction.

The roads felt barely wide enough for two semis to pass each other, and construction zones seemed to stretch on forever all the way to our destination at Thousand Trails Colorado River.

Along the drive, William discovered an interesting fact: the Texas Colorado River is actually the longest river contained entirely within the state of Texas and doesn't connect to the Colorado River most people think of out west.

Since you've all come to expect a few fun facts from us, here are this week's Texas facts:

⭐ Dr Pepper was invented by a pharmacist at Morrison's Old Corner Drug Store in Waco, Texas.

⭐ Texas is home to the fastest highway in the United States. A 40-mile stretch of State Highway 130 between Austin and San Antonio has a legal speed limit of 85 MPH.

When we finally arrived at Thousand Trails Colorado River, our first impression was how peaceful and quiet it felt. William headed over to check us in and discovered that the campground offers activities throughout the entire week, which we're excited to check out during our stay.

And now for the biggest tease of all...

We have some major news that we'll be announcing next week, and it has completely changed our travel plans. In fact, the news is significant enough that we've decided to stay here for two full weeks before beginning a three-day travel journey to our next destination.

Trust us—you won't want to miss next week's update.

Until then, we'll be enjoying Texas, continuing our hunt for our tiny trailer intruder, and counting down the days until we can finally share our exciting news with all of you.

See you next week from the road!
