This week we landed at Thousand Trails South Jetty in Florence, Oregon, and can we just say...
COOLER WEATHER!
After what felt like forever traveling through temperatures hot enough to melt us, arriving in Oregon was exactly what we needed. The cooler temperatures meant we could finally spend most of our days outside without feeling like we were slowly cooking ourselves.
Almost immediately after arriving, we met our neighbors, Pamela and Michael.
They had just started their own full-time RV adventure about two weeks earlier, so naturally, we had plenty to talk about! We had fun sharing some of the tips, tricks, lessons, and probably a few of the mistakes we've learned from since becoming full-time RVers.
And if you've been following our journey, you already know that we've learned quite a few things the hard way!
With the weather being so beautiful, much of the week was spent outside. And if William is outside, you can probably guess what eventually comes out...
The DJ equipment.
The first night, Pamela and Michael came over to hang out, listen to some music, and enjoy the evening with us. That's when Pamela decided to give William a little challenge.
She requested a Woodstock set.
Now, if you know William, you know you don't challenge him to create a DJ set unless you're prepared for him to take that challenge very seriously.
So the next day, William got to work.
The goal was to somehow combine the music we love today with the iconic songs and sounds of the Woodstock era.
And boy, oh boy... he did not disappoint.
What started as one request from our new neighbor turned into something much bigger. William created a set that blended generations of music together—classic songs that brought back memories for some people mixed with the electronic sound that we love so much.
It became one of those sets where a song would come on and suddenly someone across the campground recognized it.
Then another person would stop.
Then someone else would wander over.
Before we knew it, our little campsite DJ session was attracting people from around the campground.
And honestly, that's exactly the kind of thing we love.
Music has an incredible way of bringing together people who may otherwise never have met. Different ages, different backgrounds, different places they're from—but suddenly everyone knows the same song.
The original Woodstock challenge continued throughout the week as William kept working on the set, changing things, adding songs, and making it better.
Eventually, it needed an official name.
And there was really only one choice...
South Jettystock was born!
We'll have William's South Jettystock set linked in the Links section at the bottom of this week's blog, and we highly recommend giving it a listen. This one turned into something pretty special for us.
But the music wasn't the only thing that made this week special.
We spent most of the week hanging out with Pamela and Michael, getting to know each other, sharing stories, talking about RV life, and enjoying the cooler Oregon weather.
Every once in a while on this journey, we meet people we immediately connect with, and Pamela and Michael were definitely two of those people. What started as meeting the neighbors next door quickly turned into a friendship that became one of the highlights of our stop in Florence.
Before we continued our journey, we knew there was something we wanted them to be part of.
The green dot.
If you've read some of our previous blogs, you know how sentimental our Road to ABGT 700 map has become. What started as a fun way to track our route across the country has turned into something much more meaningful.
Certain green dots are now being placed by the people who have become part of our story along the way.
We gave Pamela and Michael the honor of adding another green dot to our map, officially making them part of our Road to ABGT 700 journey.
And speaking of ABGT 700...
LOOK AT THAT MAP!
We are getting SO CLOSE!
When we started this adventure, The Gorge felt so far away. There were thousands of miles, countless campgrounds, new states, unexpected detours, RV problems, crazy roads, new friendships, and plenty of surprises waiting between Florida and Washington.
Now we're in Oregon.
ABGT 700 is getting closer and closer, and soon we'll finally be reunited with our Anjuna family at The Gorge.
But we're not there quite yet.
There are still more miles to travel, more green dots to add, more people to meet, and hopefully a few more adventures waiting for us before we finally pull into Washington.
South Jettystock certainly wasn't something we had planned when we arrived in Florence, but that's becoming one of our favorite things about this journey.
Sometimes you pull into a campground expecting nothing more than a place to park your home for the week...
And you leave with new friends, new memories, and a DJ set named after the place.
Not bad for another week on the road.
Until next week...
See you down the road. 🚐❤️🎶
